Huge need to do software license management on (at least) servers.

Especially third party licenses that are expensive.

We will rely on ADDM for software inventory.

Typical 3rd party vendors would be Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe.

Additional caveats would be:
MSDN licenses could be assigned to different users and don’t count towards “installed licenses”.
We have agreements where there is an element of “free in development” (could be defined as in certain subnets) or “free DR” (needs to be defined explicitly).

We will also need to find and identify instances of our distributed in-house applications to make them show up in the CMDB. These applications are quite commonly defined through the content of distributed configuration files, most often over different boxes and sometimes on different OSes.
