Dear all,

We have lets say some IO performance problems, so - first thing we did is to checked the IO traffic. The trafic was really unexpected high. We are talking about a consolidation appl. in the DEV system, which means no further activities from queries etc..no other active users.

I noticed here /usr/tideway/var/localdisk/tideway.db/logs (I assume it is a default location) that we have log files with actual timestamps… each 10MB every 20-90 seconds +-. (They disappear after a few minutes) Can I switch off these logs of or reduce them? We have a VM Environment and due to the fact that the related SAN is sharing the IOs, it is like a bottleneck.

... maybe the other way around… do you think that a to scan and manage 3600 computers and scanning 16k ip addresses a VM is still the best choise? Anybody experience with a scenario like this?

Any advice is like always very appreciated.

Best Regards

Kai

/usr/tideway/var/localdisk/tideway.db/logs contains the datastore transaction logs. Do not modify or delete these files - doing so will corrupt your datastore.

ADDM is very I/O intensive. It is perfectly possible to run ADDM on a VM provided your disk I/O performance is sufficient. This page describes I/O performance guidelines.

Dear Andrew,

Thank you for your quick response. Ok, won’t touch that files ;-)
