Hi Guys

We have upgraded one of our Scanning Appliance to 8.3 and it works perfectly fine except when trying to run scan on multiple IPs copied from Excel File

Normally I have the IPs listed in excel rows and in the next column place the comma(,) for all the rows and copy paste and start the scan in the appliance

This copied data works perfectly fine in 8.2.1 appliance but throws the error in 8.3

Invalid character in host specification. Note in particular that square brackets [] are no longer allowed. They were redundant and can simply be removed.
QUITTING!

If i copy the IP to the Scan page and manually enter the Commas ..the scan works fine..
any suggestion would be helpful.

thanks guys

What do you mean by copying the data – copying it to where?

I can’t find the string QUITTING anywhere in ADDM 8.3.

Copying the IPs+Commas from the Excel to the scan window of 8.2.1 it works fine..
Same IPs+Commas from Excel does not work with 8.3

Thats the exact message it threw :

Invalid character in host specification. Note in particular that square brackets [] are no longer allowed. They were redundant and can simply be removed.

Can you clarify where exactly you are pasting the data? Can you post a screenshot?

Sorry for the delay in replying guys

This is how I used to do it in 8.2 versions

In Excel i have IPs on 1 row and the commas on the next row
i copy paste this on the Range under Add a New Run option (Discovery Page)
it runs fine, no problem

Now in 8.3 version, i do the same
and it throws me the message i posted

When i copy a sample data from Excel to a Notepad it appears like this :

10.192.84.182 ,
10.192.85.182 ,
10.192.84.191 ,
10.192.84.192

Looks like 8.3 doesnt allow these spaces/tabs where as 8.2 had no issues with it?

i have attached a screeny of where i copy paste it

I just tried exactly those steps — create a list in Excel, with commas in the next column, pasted it into Notepad, then pasted it into the “Add New Run” dialog. It worked fine. Can you post a screenshot of the error that you see?

@Duncan : if you directly copy-paste from Excel to the Add New Run window it throws this error in 8.3 where as 8.2 it works fine

but from excel if i paste to notepad and paste to the add new run..it works fine in 8.3
any particular reason it is not working when copied from Excel?
