Thought I pick your brains - you may have come accross a similar issue

We are having issues logging in to the system with root user

We have not changed it,
Document says it has not been changed,
ADDM state default password is the same in version 8.3

But we cant logon with that password

Strange thing is when we use su – root it logs in as root with the default password however this does not let us modify sda/b/c/d drivers permissions. (needed to add the storage)

Desperately trying to think of a way around this but without root access from putty kind of stuck,

Any ideas - have tried fakeshadow!

Also logged a call with support

Issue is I am not sure if the problem is with password or the system as i can login when using tidewayuser and entering su - root

What exactly is the problem?

If you are saying you cannot ssh as root onto the appliance then yes - that is by design. ssh has been configured to disallow ssh root login. It is bad practice to enable direct root logins.

So how do i access root enviroment to add addtional storage

I can not do this with su - root

Yes you can - I suggest that you contact customer support.

Ok one last thing - The /dev/sda has been expanded, now is it possible to expand the partitioned sda’s to increase the storage?
