VM guest to Physical host impact relationship

Hi,

When using ADDM to populate an atrium CMDB using the out of the box normalisation/reconciliation rules the impact relationship between virtual guests and physical hosts appears to be going in the wrong direction.

The impact relationship goes from the VM to the physical host. When using the impact simulator within the Remedy CMDB this flags that the VM going down will impact the physical host when the opposite is true. A screenshot is attached.

Is it possible for someone to confirm whether this is correct behaviour, I have looked through the atrium data modelling guide but this does not include impact relationships.

If this is working correctly is someone able to explain the rationale behind this?

Many thanks

James

Hi James,

What CMDB version do you have?  Normalization rules in the CMDB are responsible for setting the HasImpact attributes and the impact direction. ADDM does not (normally) get involved in setting impact.

Duncan.

Hi Duncan,

Thanks for the quick reply, CMDB is version 7.6.03 with no patches.
