Hello

I am currently using ADDM 8.3.2.2

According to the BMC documentation, the Linux machines need dmidecode, hwinfo, hbacmd and lputil

But Both dmidecode and hwinfo provide access to system BIOS information
DO we need to install both these tools, Do they both expose the same attributes?

similarly Both hbacmd and lputil provide access to host HBAFiberChannel interface card, so do need to have both for full discovery ?

It would be great if someone give some clarity on the same

What you have is a list of commands that ADDM will try to use. You don’t need all the tools, though what you need will depend upon what you are discovering.

ADDM 8.3 SP2 will also try to use lshal and sys fs to get information.

Thanks for the information. That is really helpful.

My customer at this point is not will to install all the tools mentioned in the ADDM document,

Is there any documentation in BMC, which mentions which tool is more critical or gives more information than the other, so the customer can take a informed decision on the required tools?

For dmidecode specifically you will need it to in order to map VM’s to their platforms.
Since it is a privileged command, it will need the correct permissions to run. The way I use to add it to /etc/sudoers.
Hope this helps…
