IIS web server in CAM

I have added one SQL database and two IIS websites in CAM model.
The SQL database is added as Database Detail. So I see MS SQL Server as software instance in CAM model. But even if I added two IIS websites – the two IIS web servers are not added automatically, as software instances in CAM model. Is it because they are are load balanced or?

If you have 2 IIS web servers, then they would be on 2 different hosts and if they are running should appear as an SI on each host.

If you have 2 websites in IIS, then these are modeled as SoftwareComponent nodes.

In CAM only Detail and DatabaseDetail will automatically include the associated container.

You will need to include the IIS server yourself.

Nikola – “If you have 2 websites in IIS, then these are modeled as SoftwareComponent nodes.” – Yes I added them as software component and they are on different hosts.

But I thought it will add automatically similar to database datails. If I add software component (IIS website) it should include IIS server automatically.

If I modified the CAM group and regerated Application map. Then new pattern for CAM becomes active and old pattern becomes inactive. Now if I scan the servers in that group will it update it automatically or I need to delete the original pattern?

Because it is very difficult to track model changes the new pattern will not take over maintenance of the old model. So I would strongly recommend you delete the old pattern.

Ok. I deleted old CAM generated pattern. Do I also need to delete original “Application Instance” or if I scan the servers in CAM (using updaed CAM pattern) then it will automatically update the original application instance?

Deleting the old CAM pattern will delete the old BusinessApplicationInstance.

Ok. So the old application instance got deleted after I deleted the old BAI pattern. I could generate new appliaction isntance after rescanning the BAI servers. Thanks.

One more question – Now that I added IIS servers manually in CAM group and generated BAI – I could see IIS servers in visualization “Application View” for the BAI. But I don’t see two IIS websites ( Software components) in the same visualization above IIS servers.
