Here are a few guidelines and tips for getting the best response.

1) Include the ADDM Version

Please mention the version of BMC ADDM you are using, such as 8.1.01 or 8.2.00
This is especially important if you are still using the older Tideway Foundation 7.x series as they are built on a different technology.

2) Include your Goal

Let us know what you are trying to achieve to help us understand and also in case we can think of an alternative way of reaching your goal.

3) Include a Search String or Pattern

If you are looking for advice on reporting please include any Search Strings such as

SEARCH Host WHERE os_class 'Windows' SHOW name

even if they don’t quite do what you want. Often it is the fastest way for others to understand and help.

If you are trying to get a pattern to work please attach it as a text file or include it within CODE tags.

4) Include a screen shot

If you look just below the main edit box when posting a new topic or doing a reply you can use the “Attachments” to include a screen shot. Please use a graphics format and not a word doc as they are problematic to open and may stop community members from helping out.

Remember unless another community member can understand what you are trying to do they will not be able to help you.

Please note:

The forum is always an informal medium and, while a number of us keep an eye on it, there is not a guarantee of a response from BMC staff or other forum users. If you need a response it’s best to raise it directly with customer support.

Any case where you suspect a fault in our published products (code or patterns) is best investigated formally via support.

If you post about an issue on the forum and also raise the issue with support it would be very much appreciated if you could note the case number in the forum and note the forum post URL in the case so we can most effectively help you.
