Is it just me or is the default discovery dashboard a nightmare to refresh? e.g. it takes forever and if it happens to refresh during a discovery run it causes the number of discovery sessions to drop dramatically ...

I noticed it yesterday when I was in the middle of scanning about 6000 IP addresses ... went to the dashbaord and then it reduced the number of discovery sessions to about 6!

Remember that the dashboard is analysing the last access for *every* endpoint and that is not a trivial task. For this reason all dashboard charts are cached for a period of time (~10) unless you force the refresh.

It is designed to review the results of discovery so using it to monitor in progress discoveries may cause additional load, though I would be highly surprised if the number of sessions dropped as low as that. There may be other issues on your system it may be wise to open a support case.

Which areas of the dashboard are you finding useful? You could build a custom dashboard having only the channels you use. The Discovery Radar channel is the one that produces the heaviest search due to it’s scope.
