Permitting users to Access Lifecycle Management
When Foundation is installed, it creates two permissions groups for Lifecycle Management. These groups are as follows:
| Group name |
Purpose |
| lifecycle-management-administrator |
A member of this group can create new Lifecycle Management views, browse the list of views currently available, edit and delete existing views, and use any of them. Membership of this group implies membership of "lifecycle-management-user": You do not need to add both. |
| lifecycle-management-user |
A member of this group can browse the list of views currently available and use any of them. They can see the items in a view, expand item components and take any actions on items. They can exclude items from a view, or re-include previously excluded items. They can not, however, create new views, edit or delete existing ones. The lifecycle-management-user permission should be given to those people that are expected to manage view and manage lifecycle data. Users that need access to Foundation only for the purpose of viewing the 'as-is' state of the environment as discovered by Tideway Foundation do not need access to the tool. Lifecycle Management does not currently support assigning access rights to users for some views but not others. The permissions above apply equally to all views. |
To add a user to one of the above groups, do the following:
- Log in to the Foundation web interface as an administrator.
- Select the Administration tab at the top-right of the display.
- Find the "Security" section, and from it select the "Users" icon.
- For each user you want to be able to use Lifecycle Management in turn, click "Edit" next to the corresponding entry.
- Select the appropriate "lifecyclemanagement-" group and click "Apply".
 | Any user who is a member of either of the above Lifecycle Management groups should also be a member of the "public" group. A user who is a member of neither of the Lifecycle Management groups, and is not a member of the built-in "admin" group, cannot access any Lifecycle Management feature. |
See the Configuration Guide section on Users and Security for further details on administering users, groups and permissions.
Backup of Lifecycle Management Data
Since Lifecycle Management stores all of its data and configuration information inside Foundation's data store, it may be backed up and restored using Foundation's existing appliance snapshot tool.
See the Maintaining the Appliance for details of how to perform the appliance snapshot.
