Tideway currently supply a number different appliance hardware platforms. A virtual appliance is also supplied, this is described in Virtual Machine. All of the hardware appliances include an embedded service processor (SP). The Tideway Foundation software runs on the main server operating system and communicates with the network using dedicated gigabit ethernet connections.

The Tideway Foundation appliance platforms are:

  • HP ProLiant DL380 G6 (Intel) – production appliances
  • HP ProLiant DL380 G5 (Intel) – production appliances
  • HP ProLiant DL385 G2 (AMD) – production appliances
  • Sun Fire X4100 (AMD) – proof of concept appliances
  • Sun Fire V40z (AMD) – production appliances
  • Sun Fire V20z (AMD) – proof of concept appliances
The HP ProLiant DL380 G6 appliance is introduced as the preferred production appliance.

The HP ProLiant DL380 G6 replaces the HP ProLiant DL385 G5 as the new production appliance. The Sun Fire X4100 replaces the Sun Fire V20z as a proof of concept appliance. The Sun Fire V20z and V40z are no longer produced by Sun Microsystems.
