The Foundation solution is supplied either as a hardware appliance with all software pre-installed, or as a virtual machine.

Hardware Appliance Delivery

The Foundation solution is usually supplied as a hardware appliance with all software pre-installed, including the Foundation application. Based on Intel architecture, it is specifically configured and tuned in terms of memory, processor speed and disk configuration.

The appliance is supplied with a rack-mounting kit and a crossover network interface lead. Once powered up and connected to the network, it is ready for you to configure the system and set up the parameters required for discovery.

Once installed and set up, no further configuration of the appliance is normally required, and any hardware maintenance will be performed by Tideway Professional Services. Upgrades to system software may also be required from time-to-time. The upgrade process may also be managed by Tideway Professional Services.

Both hardware and software are covered by your maintenance and support contracts. Under the terms of your contract you must not make any modifications to the appliance hardware and software. Contact Tideway Support for further details.

Virtual Machine Delivery

Tideway Foundation may also be supplied on a virtual machine. Apart from installation, all interaction with a virtual machine based appliance is identical to the hardware appliance.
