The Discovery section describes the Tideway Foundation Discovery Service. It is intended for system administrators. It describes the operation of the current discovery including the Windows discovery slaves. This section also provides example descriptions of the way that hosts are discovered by each system, and the communication that takes place between the components.
- The Discovery Service – provides information on the Tideway Foundation Discovery Service, the way it discovers processes on UNIX based operating systems and Windows operating systems. It describes the various types of Windows slaves and their benefits and limitations.
- Discovery Process – describes the Tideway Foundation Discovery process, that is, the sequence of operations used to perform discovery on a host.
- User Privileges and Information Access – contains information on the type of information discovered by users with varying access privileges from different operating systems.
