Searching TWF 7.2

This is the home page for Tideway Foundation version 7.2 documentation. The documentation is divided into the following sections:

  • Introduction to Tideway Foundation – provides an introduction to Tideway Foundation. It is intended for any staff who are unfamiliar with Tideway Foundation.
  • Release Notes – accompany each product release and provide details of new features introduced in that release as well as known issues/workarounds. For information on between-release updates or EFix releases, see the readme file that is provided with the update.
  • Getting Started – provides a brief introduction and step by step guide to starting work with Tideway Foundation. It is intended to accompany the Community Edition, but contains much useful information for new users of Tideway Foundation.
  • User Guide – describes the day to day use of the product. It is intended for IT operations staff and managers who are using and managing Tideway Foundation, including viewing, creating, searching and reporting on data from an infrastructure or a business perspective.
  • Configuration Guide – describes how to set up and configure the product. It is intended for IT operations staff who are responsible for setting up, managing and configuring Tideway Foundation and any associated slaves. It describes options on the Tideway user interface that are only available to users with administration privileges as well as command line access to certain parts of the product which are not accessible through the UI.
  • Discovery – describes the Tideway Foundation Discovery Service. It is intended for system administrators and describes the operation of the current Discovery including the external Windows discovery slave. It also provides example descriptions of the way that hosts are discovered by each system, and the communication that takes place between the components. It assumes familiarity with Tideway Foundation.
  • How to Model your Business Applications – describes how to use Tideway Foundation to create and maintain a model of your business applications. It is intended for business modelers and system administrators who are responsible for modeling business applications. It assumes familiarity with Tideway Foundation.
  • Node Lifecycle – describes the Tideway Foundation model and focuses on the different types of nodes available. The nodes are described in terms of their lifecycle, attributes, and relationships. It assumes familiarity with Tideway Foundation and should be used in conjunction with the Tideway Foundation User Guide, Configuration Guide, and the Search and Reporting Service Technical Note.
  • Tideway Pattern Language TPL – describes how Software Instances and Business Application Instances are created by grouping nodes and sequencing commands. The purpose of the pattern language is to abstract the detail of the ECA rule engine and present a simple interface for non-programmers. It assumes familiarity with Tideway Foundation.
  • Lifecycle Management – describes the Tideway Lifecycle Management functionality and provides information needed to configure and use Lifecycle Management. It assumes familiarity with Tideway Foundation.
  • Search and Reporting Service – describes how to use the Searching and Reporting service to perform complex searches on the Tideway Foundation datastore. It is intended for software developers and users who are familiar with query languages such as SQL. It assumes familiarity with Tideway Foundation, including details of the data model and the taxonomy.
  • Export APIs – describes the Tideway Foundation Export APIs. It is intended for experienced end-users or scripters. The APIs should be quite usable for this type of person once the query language is learned. It assumes familiarity with Tideway Foundation and should be used in conjunction with the Tideway Foundation Search and Reporting Service Technical Note.
  • Export – describes the Tideway Foundation Export facility and provides information needed to install and use it. This document is intended for IT operations staff and managers who are using or setting up Export. It assumes familiarity with Tideway Foundation.
  • Appliance Specification – describes the platforms used for the Tideway Foundation appliance. It provides a brief introduction to the features of the appliance, and the basic tasks that a member of Tideway Professional Services would need to perform to start the appliance for the first time on a customer site. It also provides specifications for each of the appliance models.
  • Performance Data – provides the Tideway Foundation user with useful performance benchmark information about each new release of the product. It also describes the factors which may affect the performance of Tideway Foundation.
  • Troubleshooting – provides information on possible problems that you may encounter, troubleshooting and debugging tips, and how to collect data that Tideway Customer Support may need to solve problems.
