Once you have completed a discovery run, you can examine the results of the scan and look for potential hosts in the range that you have scanned. There are a number of ways of accessing the scan results, such as from the Reports page.

Click the Discovery Reports button to show the reports that are available on the discovered data. The left hand side of the page shows a measure of the amount of information discovered in the credential free scan.

The following method accesses the report via the Reports drop down on the view discovery run page.

  1. Click the 1 Discovery Run icon to show the discovery run details.
  2. Click the Reports button to show the reports that are available on the discovery run. Click the Possible Host Devices link.

  3. The Possible Host Devices report is displayed.

  4. Click the chart icon in the OS Class column heading. A popup menu is displayed. Click the Pie Chart link. A chart is displayed which shows the breakdown of OS class.

From the chart you can determine the predominant operating system class in the scanned environment. Continue the procedure depending on what the dominant operating system class is. This enables you to model a larger proportion of your environment in the first instance, and then return to the other operating system class for more complete modeling.
