The Tideway Foundation Community Edition virtual machine is packaged in a zip file for the following VMware product.

  • VMware Server (version 1.0.6, build 91891 or later)

Installation on VMware Server

To install the virtual appliance on VMware Server, perform the following steps on the VMware server host:

  1. Copy and extract the virtual appliance zipfile to the local file system.
  2. Start the VMware Server application.
  3. From the File menu, select Open VM.
  4. A file browser dialog is displayed enabling you to browse to the virtual appliance .vmx file.
  5. Click OK to load the file.
  6. The main panel shows the settings for the virtual appliance. It is recommended that you do not change any of these settings.
  7. Click the green start button to start the virtual appliance.
    • When starting the virtual appliance for the first time, you may be prompted about your identifier. It is recommended that you choose the relevant option to create a new identifier. This ensures that the MAC address of the Network Interface Card is unique and avoids any conflicts.
    • Also when starting the virtual appliance for the first time, Tideway Foundation will take a few minutes to start while the data model is initialized. On subsequent starts of the virtual machine, the Foundation application will start more rapidly.
  8. The IP address of the virtual appliance is displayed at the console login. Make a note of this to use when accessing the Tideway Foundation UI through your browser.
