The Tideway Foundation Community Edition Virtual Machine (VM) is supplied as a compressed zip file and built with the following default configuration:

  • 1 x CPU
  • 512MB RAM – this configuration should be adequate for 30 OSIs.
  • 20GB HDD (to grow, in 2 GB file increments)
  • 1 CD/DVD drive
  • 1 Network Interface Card (NIC) - configured to use DHCP to obtain an IP address.

To run the VM your system will need have sufficient RAM to support your operating system and the VM (we recommend 1GB RAM) and a minimum of 25GB of Hard Disk space should the VM grow to full capacity. Additional CPUs and RAM can be allocated to improve performance but we recommend the above as a minimum specification.

The Tideway Foundation VM is built using VMware Server 1.0.6 (build 91891). It will run on the following VMware products on any Windows, OSX or Linux machine supported by the VMware product.
(Tideway only verifies the Community Edition against VMware Server):

Additional configuration may be required to run the VM on Virtual Infrastructure and ESXi. Please see the appropriate VMware documentation for details.

See Logging in to the Appliance Command Line for information on accessing the command line and for changing the default passwords.
