BMC Atrium Discovery Community Edition Virtual Appliance

The BMC Atrium Discovery Community Edition Virtual Appliance is supplied as a compressed zip file and built with the following default configuration:

  • 1 x CPU
  • 512MB RAM – this configuration should be adequate for 30 OSIs.
  • 20GB HDD (to grow, in 2 GB file increments)
  • 1 CD/DVD drive
  • 1 Network Interface Card (NIC) - configured to use DHCP to obtain an IP address.

To run the BMC Atrium Discovery Community Edition Virtual Appliance your system must have sufficient RAM to support your operating system and the Virtual Appliance (we recommend 1GB RAM) and a minimum of 25GB of Hard Disk space should the Virtual Appliance grow to full capacity. Additional CPUs and RAM can be allocated to improve performance but we recommend the above as a minimum specification.

BMC Atrium Discovery Virtual Appliance

The BMC Atrium Discovery Virtual Appliance is built using VMware Server 1.0.6 (build 91891). It will run on the following VMware products on any Windows, OSX or Linux machine supported by the VMware product.
(Tideway only verifies the Community Edition against VMware Server):

Additional configuration may be required to run the Virtual Appliance on Virtual Infrastructure and ESXi. Please see the appropriate VMware documentation for details.

See Logging in to the Appliance Command Line for information on accessing the command line and for changing the default passwords.

No additional software supported on appliance
BMC Atrium Discovery is built as an appliance which is not intended to have any additional software installed on it. The only exception to this is BMC PATROL. BMC Customer Support cannot provide support for any appliances which have had additional software installed.
