The CMDB Sync page enables you to configure a simple export from Atrium Discovery and Dependency Mapping to BMC Atrium CMDB. For a more flexible export, see Export and Configuring the BMC Atrium Adapter. Before you can export data to BMC Atrium CMDB, using the CMDB Sync page or the full export, you must satisfy the following pre-requisites:

These steps are described in Exporting to BMC Atrium CMDB.

To set up CMDB Sync

  1. From the Model section of the Administration page, click the CMDB Sync icon. If no CMDB Sync has been configured, a banner is displayed stating that the appliance has not been set up for CMDB Sync.

  2. Click Setup to configure a default export to your Atrium server.
The CMDB Sync page is displayed.

  3. Enter the following information:
    Field Description
Atrium Server The hostname or IP address of the BMC Atrium CMDB host.
Specify TCP Port If using a non-standard port, select the checkbox and enter the port number to use.
Username The username of the BMC Atrium CMDB user.
Set Password If you want to save the password for the BMC Atrium CMDB, select the checkbox and enter the password here.
Synchronize Choose how frequently you want to synchronize BMC Atrium Discovery to the BMC Atrium CMDB. Choose from one of the following:
    • Manually – this option is for unscheduled on-demand synchronizations. Click the Sync button on the CMDB Sync page to perform the synchronization. Note that this option deletes the cron file described below.
    • Every Hour
    • Every 2 Hours
    • Every 4 Hours
    • Every 8 Hours
    • Every 12 Hours
    • Daily
    • Custom
If you choose the Custom option, you can edit the cron file to specify the exact timing of the synchronization. Edit the $TIDEWAY/etc/cron/tw_exporter_CMDB-Sync.cron file. After editing the tw_exporter_CMDB-Sync.cron file you must run tw_cron_update to apply the change.
  4. Click Apply to apply the changes.

After you have completed this procedure, the CMDB Sync page is displayed.

Downloading the Extension

You can download the ADDM Integration Extension from the CMDB Sync page. However, the link for this is only displayed once a CMDB Sync is configured. Alternatively, replacing appliance_name with the name of your appliance, use the following URL:

http://appliance_name/extension-423-ADDMIntegration.zip

You must install the extension before you can export data to BMC Atrium CMDB. See Exporting to BMC Atrium CMDB for more information on the configuration steps required.
