This section identifies the changes and enhancements that have been made in the 8.1.02 release of BMC Atrium Discovery and Dependency Mapping (BMC Atrium Discovery). This was released 11 November 2010.
BMC Atrium Discovery version 8.1.02 provides the following new features:
- Diagnostic information for on hold discovery runs – some discovery runs can appear to be stalled, or on hold. This occurs when a discovery run attempts to scan an endpoint outside its permitted scan window. In previous releases this has be difficult to diagnose. The Discovery Status page has been enhanced to provide diagnostic information for on hold runs.
- Minimum Slave Release number is no longer required – the intention of the Minimum Slave Release number is to distinguish between discovery slaves which were made available to customers between BMC Atrium Discovery releases. However, discovery slaves are no longer released outside a BMC Atrium Discovery release so the Minimum Slave Release number is no longer required. The option is removed from the Discovery Options page. This means that if you are using an 8.1.2 discovery slave with an 8.1, 8.1.1 or 8.2 appliance, you cannot set the Minimum Slave Release number as you might have done previously, though you can still set the minimum slave version.
- Defects resolved – a number of defects have been resolved in this release.
- Apache Tomcat upgrade – the version of Apache Tomcat used in BMC Atrium Discovery has been upgraded to version 5.5.31. This includes bug fixes and a security fix for CVE-2010-1157. See the following Apache Tomcat documentation for more information on the version 5.5.31 release.
