The following table provides information on compatibility between slave types and versions, and the operating systems that the slave runs on for BMC Atrium Discovery version 8.1 and 8.1.1.
PSEXEC on Windows Server 2008When you install the slave on windows 2008, the PSEXEC utility is not available for the slave to use. The PSEXEC utility is downloaded, but not installed. We recommend that you do not use PSEXEC on Windows Server 2008. PSTOOLS is still enabled in the Slave Configuration File so the slave will attempt to run PSEXEC if RemCom fails. This can show up as Script Failure nodes with the following message: psexec.exe is not installed on the slave. Either install it or disable the option in the config file. These failures can either be ignored, or PSTOOLS support disabled in the Slave Configuration File. Windows Discovery MetadataDiscovery metadata covers Windows as well as UNIX. This provides information about why sessions failed to be established and why scripts failed to run, including information about what credential or slave was used. This information is not reported by slaves prior to version 7.3, instead the user will see a message stating that the Slave is not a compatible version. |
