A number of template patterns are supplied with BMC Atrium Discovery. These provide a starting point for modeling. The following patterns are supplied:

• Simple SI Pattern Template – Maintain a simple SoftwareInstance based on identifying a process.
• SI Template Identifying Instances from the Command – Maintain an identifiable SoftwareInstance triggered on a process with its identity in its command line.
• SI Template Using Application Path Versioning – Maintain a grouped SoftwareInstance triggered on a process, with the SoftwareInstance version found in the path.
• SI Template Using a Table for Path Versioning – Maintain a grouped SoftwareInstance triggered on a process, with the SoftwareInstance version found in the path and looked up in a table.
• SI Template Using Command Versioning – Maintain a grouped SoftwareInstance triggered on a process, with the SoftwareInstance version found by running a command.
• SI Template Using Registry Versioning – Maintain a grouped SoftwareInstance triggered on a process, with the SoftwareInstance version found in the Windows registry.
• SI Template Obtaining Versioning from an XML File – Maintain a grouped SoftwareInstance triggered on a process, with the SoftwareInstance version found in an XML file.
• SI Template Using Package Versioning – Maintain a grouped SoftwareInstance triggered on a process, with the SoftwareInstance version found in package information.
• SI Template Collecting Child SIs – Maintain a SoftwareInstance based on identifying a process, which collects the child processes into a single SI.
• Simple BAI Template – Maintain a BusinessApplicationInstance based on identifying a SoftwareInstance and searching for some other components.
• BAI Template Identifying SI and Searching for Components – Maintain a BusinessApplicationInstance based on identifying each of several SoftwareInstances that contribute to it.
• Template Relating Hosts to Locations – Maintain relationships linking Hosts to Locations based on hostname.
• SQL Asset Integration – Use business contextual information stored in a SQL database to annotate Hosts with ownership and location information.
• SQL Deep Discovery – Issue SQL queries to a discovered database to extract further information about it or other software.
